We care about our children and our families. We know that life can be hard at times and everyone needs some support. We feel that it is vitally important for our families to have access to impartial support when you need it the most. The role of Family Support is important in providing that.
A message from our Family Support Worker
Hi, my name is Vikki Slater and I feel extremely privileged to Belle Vue's Family Support Worker. I have been part of the Belle Vue community since 2001 when my own daughter started in the Nursery. I became a member of staff in 2007 and have been the Nursery teacher since 2008.
As a result of being part of the school for such a long time I have a strong emotional connection to our families, and I want the very best for them. During my time as the Nursery teacher I have formed strong relationships with the parents and grandparents of my Nursery children. This has enabled me to support many families in a wide range of situations over the years. I am thrilled that I will now be able to extend this support to all Belle Vue parents and continue to support families after their child has moved on from Nursery.
In my role as the Family Support Worker I will be able to provide support to our parents and carers and help with any issues that you may have in relation to supporting your children at home or in school. If I don't have the expertise to help, then I will do my best to put you in touch with someone who can.
I work with families in an impartial and non-judgemental manner. I know from personal experience that there are times in our lives when we just need someone to talk to. I hope to be able to provide this opportunity and to be able to provide any support needed.
We want our children to be happy, to be confident and have high self-esteem and to reach their full potential and one of the best ways to do this is to help our parents and carers to do the same.
This is a new role at Belle Vue, so we are in the early stages of development but as time goes by and we learn more about the needs of our families then we hope to increase the support we can offer and to provide access to external support by inviting groups into school.
I look forward to meeting more of our Belle Vue families once the current restrictions have been lifted, but until then please feel free to contact me via the link below if you are in need of a 'listening ear'. I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.
