Year 3 Spring Term
In the Spring Term, Year 3 have been studying the Victorians, focusing on the life of Queen Victoria, important inventions, Sir Rowland Hill and children at work.
We have painted portraits of the Queen at different times throughout her life. The children really enjoyed researching Victorian inventions such as the camera, telephone and the public flushing toilet on our new chrome books. Sir Rowland Hill, who was local to Kidderminster, invented the first pre-paid postage stamp which revolutionised the postage service around the world. To link with our play scripts literacy work, the children are exploring children at work in the Victorian times.
Here are two portraits of Queen Victoria, one aged 4 (1823) and the other aged 56 (1875).
