16th March 2020
Dear Parents / Carers
As you may be aware, the governing body recently held a rigorous series of assessment days, in order to find a replacement for our headteacher, Mr Porter. We attempted to involve a wide selection of our school community in the process, making sure we took into account what our children, staff and parents wanted in our new headteacher.
I am delighted to announce that we have appointed Mr Joel Marshall as our new Headteacher. Mr Marshall has many years of experience as a headteacher and can offer our school a wealth of new ideas and opportunities. We are confident that he will be able to lead the school exceptionally well and negotiate the many changes in education that face both our staff and children. We feel positive that he will be able to continue the hard work and successes Mr Porter has led over the past years.
Mr Marshall requested that he have time to tell his current staff, parents and pupils, before we announced his appointment, hence the delay in writing to you. We thought it was necessary to afford him the opportunity to do this in his own time.
Mr Marshall is due to begin on 1st September 2020, but he may be in and around school for a number of reasons, so your child may meet him at some point.
Our new Headteacher will, I’m sure, write to you all in due course and will be liaising with both myself, school governors with individual responsibilities, Mr Porter and staff, in order to ensure a smooth transition from Mr. Porter’s headship.
Should you have any questions regarding this appointment, please do not hesitate to contact me via email,
or through our school office. I would be happy to talk to you.
We look forward to working with and supporting Mr Marshall and hope you will continue to be as supportive and enthusiastic for our new head as you have been to Mr Porter.
Thank you for your time,
Mrs Emma Wilkes
Chair of Governors
