INSET Day

In Reading, we are enjoying The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig as our class novel. Each week, children will also read a Monster Phonics teaching book, helping them to build their fluency and expression (prosody). During our Teach Hub sessions, children will explore a range of different texts, where we will focus on developing their understanding of new vocabulary and improving comprehension skills. Children will also bring home a Monster Phonics book, along with a sharing book to enjoy with family at home.

Writing In English, we will be reading The Eyebrows of Doom. Children will learn to write exclamation sentences, use apostrophes to show singular possession, and write compound sentences using the coordinating conjunction "and." The children will also complete daily handwriting sessions, following the Letter Join programme.

Maths In Maths, we will cover the topics of mass, capacity and length, fractions, time, statistics, and position and direction. Children will also revisit their 2, 5 and 10 times tables and continue to develop accuracy in addition and subtraction during arithmetic sessions. In addition they have access at home to numbots and TTRockstars.

Phonics- Children have daily phonics lessons with their class teacher. They learn new graphemes each week and review previously taught graphemes. They then get to practise writing and spelling these words. Children are assessed regularly following the Monster Phonics assessment programme to check their retention of taught graphemes.

Wider Curriculum

Homework
