We are reading Cat in the Hat, Fantastic Mr Fox and other classic stories during class novel time. We will read new Monster Phonics books every week, which the children will bring home. We will read The Eyebrows of Doom during our writing sessions.
Writing We will practise our sentence and grammar structures alongside the book 'The Eyebrows of Doom'. Children will practice writing different stories as a class, working towards independent writing their own story. The children will also complete daily handwriting sessions, following the Letter Join programme.
Maths We are working on Fractions and Mass, Capacity and temperature. Children will also be practising subsidising using rekenreks as part of their Maths Hub sessions. In addition they have access at home to numbots and TTRockstars.
Phonics- Children have daily phonics lessons in their phonics groups. They learn new graphemes each week and review previously taught graphemes. They then get to practise writing and spelling these words. Children are assessed regularly following the Monster Phonics assessment programme to check their retention of taught graphemes.
