During the spring term, Year 6 will ensuring the children are ready and prepared for the End of Year Assessment tests and some of our afternoon lessons will be used to embed and extend the children’s ongoing literacy and mathematical knowledge and skills.
Alongside this, Year 6 will continue to have a broad and challenging curriculum in the foundation subjects.
In Computing, we will making the most of our fantastic new purchase of Chrome books and be developing our coding skills, working hard to use the correct and appropriate computer science language.
Our PE lessons will see the children building their stamina and pace through Boxercise and aerobic sequences.
Our humanities focus is The Maya Civilisation and our fabulous new Heritage project will begin in the second half of the spring term, focusing on our local community and its important links to historical events.
This term we have introduced a new music scheme and we are looking forward to developing our children’s musical knowledge and composing skills.
In art, we have an exciting new topic of ‘Optical Illusions’, where we will be looking at perspective. In lessons, children will have the chance to explore how artists create perspective and will they will be able to experiment with these skills themselves.
